About the Crossbuck Sign

The Crossbuck is the one sign every public highway-rail grade crossing has: two white blades crossed in an X reading RAILROAD and CROSSING in black. Under MUTCD Section 8B.03 it's a regulatory sign — drivers approaching it must yield to trains — and it goes on each approach, on the right-hand side of the road, on the same post as the flashing lights and gate where the crossing has them. Where there are two or more tracks, a Number of Tracks plaque goes below it.
